A Discovery (or Two)

Hola!
So I feel pretty bad for not posting last week... but there was just no way it was going to happen. I've been working a lot, so have just not had time to write posts to a standard that I felt happy with. So, I hope you'll forgive me, because I will make it up to you (promise!) with a few extra posts here and there, and for sure this week, I will be back on schedule. Pinky swear.

Discovery #1:

I bought the Clinique Supermoisture Make-Up during the winter and thought it would be perfect for me as it is targeted at dry skin types.

The other day I put some foundation on my hand to apply with a brush...
...which I never do, and then went about my day. A few hours later I noticed there was glitter on my hand.. wtf where did that come from was my thought... And then I realised. My foundation is glittery.. nowhere does it say this, I swear!!! I checked the bottle and it doesn't say, so I've been walking around for months and months using a foundation that's glittery.

And as a person who sometimes gets acne, why in the name of benzoyl peroxide would I want some stupid glitter highlighting my acne?! So, incase you didn't know... be warned, this foundation has glitter/shimmer in it.

Discovery #2:

Another Clinique one... The famous 'Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion' has recently been reformulated and renamed to 'Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +'. So I decided to look at the ingredients after just having purchased a new one of the original formula a few weeks ago (bad idea).

The discovery is that this moisturizer contains mineral oil (the new formula does too), so it doesn't absorb properly. I recently became obsessed with Caroline Hirons' blog and she stresses that it isn't beneficial to your skin time and time again. It actually prevents moisture or the product being absorbed into your skin, so in makeup it's fantastic... skincare? Not so much. Bad discovery considering I still have most of the thing of moisturiser to go.

I will use it up and combine/alternate it with a moisturizer that does not have mineral oil in it (such as Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief) - especially when the stupid thing cost me £28.

I don't know if you read Dreaming In Blush, but it seems Elle also had an interesting discovery recently... about curly eyelashes. I have actually never used a lash curler and have always wondered if it would make a difference, and then I use my mascara and think, do I really need it? So, reading Elle's post reassured me and got the stupid idea out of my head. Everyone's body/lashes/skin/etc are different, so of course not each tool/product will work or be necessary!

Have you had any interesting discoveries recently? Hope you're enjoying the heat we have going on!

XO Esti
